How to get Cockroach
Horde players can purchase the Cockroach from Jeremiah Payson, the Cockroach Vendor on the bottom floor of Undercity's Trade Quarter, for a base price of 50 silver before reputation discounts. Historical player directions place him around 68, 44 beneath the stairs. The pet binds when used, so Alliance collectors can obtain one through the Neutral Auction House or another cross-faction trade.

Alliance collectors need a traded Cockroach

Why some modern references call it Undercity Cockroach
The companion was simply named Cockroach in the original game and remains Cockroach in Classic. Retail World of Warcraft later renamed this specific pet Undercity Cockroach when additional cockroach pets were introduced.
For Vanilla Classic and WoW Forever collection purposes, Cockroach is the correct name for this original vendor companion.
The WoW Pet Journal jokes that a cockroach is often an impulse purchase and that owners have surprising difficulty getting rid of it afterward.
